How long does repatriation to India usually take?

The timeframe can be dependent on many factors, but it will usually take around 5–7 days. Factors such as, delayed documentation, involvement of coroners and flight availability & times will all have an impact on the timeline for repatriation.

What documentation will you need to provide for repatriation to India?

We will require several different documents from the family before we can begin the repatriation process in a timely manner, as without these it will cause a delay with repatriation arrangements.

This includes:

  • The original Indian passport of the deceased person is a must or the original passport if of other nationality, plus the deceased persons OCI card (overseas citizen of India)
  • Death certificate

What items required by Indian High Commission London will Rowland Brothers International take care of?

  • Out of England certificate
  • Embalming certificate
  • Freedom from infection certificate
  • Airway bill
  • Funeral directors declaration certificate
  • Letter from Consignee in India confirming collection of the deceased from the airport with an affidavit which must be notarized and legalized (if family arrange the consignee, we will accept a scanned copy)
